    Applications for FPGA's on Nanosatellites

    Get PDF
This thesis examines the feasibility of using a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) based design on-board a CubeSat-sized nanosatellite. FPGAs are programmable logic devices that allow for the implementation of custom digital hardware on a single Integrated Circuit (IC). By using these FPGAs in spacecraft, more efficient processing can be done by moving the design onto hardware. A variety of different FPGA-based designs are looked at, including a Watchdog Timer (WDT), a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver, and a camera interface

Multiple Recurrent Acute Ischemic Strokes Treated by Thrombectomy in a Patient with Acute Pulmonary Embolism

BACKGROUND: Thrombectomy is recommended to treat for an acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patient with anterior large vessel occlusion. However, there were neither detailed guidelines nor systematic reviews of acute ischemic stroke patients having multiple times or re-occluded arteries. CASE REPORT: In our case report, we struggled a multiple (4-times) AIS patient underwent by one intravenous r-tpA and 3 remaining of endovascular treatment of thrombectomy. Especially, the finding of both pulmonary embolism and cerebral arteries occlusion in this patient made us difficult to decide the appropriate treatment plan. The patient was considered having multiple cardiac thrombi pumping out to the brain and pulmonary vessels even in treatment with NOAC (New Oral Anticoagulant). Our priority, normally, was to recanalize the brain vessels compared to the pulmonary arteries. CONCLUSION: In conclusion, based on this noticed case study, we want to share our experiences on the diagnosis of ischemic stroke, the strategy in treatment and prevention with anticoagulant therapy

Development of the software for a vehicle smart alarm system

Fatal traffic accidents are not uncommon in Singapore. The fact that the majority of these accidents are caused by human error suggests that it is possible to reduce the occurrence of fatal accidents. The absence of an all-round sensing system on the current market prompted us to work towards a system that can fulfil that goal. The Vehicle Alarm System is a system which consists of ultrasonic sensors, BLUNO and an Android device. The integration of these 3 components produced a sensor system which can work effectively together to produce sensible alerts with intelligent advice to help drivers on the road. After performing experimental tests with the system, we can be sure that the Vehicle Alarm System works effectively in realistic and practical road condition. Should the Vehicle Alarm System be used operationally, we are certain that we can achieve a lower road fatality rate.Bachelor of Engineerin
